Arcades in Seaside, Oregon: Classic Games & VR Arcade

Seaside has classic arcades on Broadway and a free-roam VR arcade on Hwy 101. What each is like, what it costs, and how to fit both into a rainy day.

Downtown Broadway has the arcades most people picture when they think of Seaside: skee-ball, air hockey, pinball, retro video games, and prize counters where tickets turn into toys. You'll find laser tag and old-school bumper cars nearby too.

They're easy to drop into, cheap per game, and perfect for younger kids who want to run from machine to machine.

Best for: families with younger kids, ticket-and-prize lovers, and anyone who wants to drop in without a plan.

Seaside VR: the arcade where you walk inside the game, at 140 N Roosevelt Drive

Seaside VR is a free-roam VR arcade on Highway 101, diagonally across from City Hall, with parking at the door. Instead of standing at a cabinet, your group puts on wireless headsets and walks a 500 sq ft private floor together. Your body is the controller.

The shooter games use StrikerVR blasters with real recoil, so you feel every shot. Each headset runs on its own gaming PC, which keeps the worlds sharp as you move. Only one group plays at a time, so the floor is yours.

Walk in and booking hours at SeasideVR.com

If your group spans toddlers to teenagers, start on Broadway and send the older kids to VR. If everyone is 9 or older and wants one big shared story, book a VR escape room first.

A rainy-day arcade crawl in three hours

This plan works best on a Saturday, when Seaside VR takes walk-ins. On a Friday or Sunday, book your VR time at least two hours ahead.

  1. 12:00, Broadway. Skee-ball, pinball, and a pocketful of prize tickets. Grab lunch downtown before you head out.
  2. 1:30, Seaside VR on Highway 101. Suit up for a one-hour VR escape room, or two Quick Play games if the group wants shooters.
  3. 2:45, back downtown. Spend the leftover tickets, or settle the score with one more round of bumper cars.

You finish with prize tickets in one pocket and a story nobody else at dinner has.
