What to Wear to VR in Seaside, Oregon

Heading to Seaside VR? Clean socks are required. Here is what to wear, what to bring, and what to leave out of your pockets.

What to wear to VR, and what to bring

You do not need special gear to play at Seaside VR. A few small choices make the session more comfortable, and one of them is required. If this is your first visit, read this, then the guide to VR in Seaside.

Clean socks are required

Socks are required on the arena floor. Bring a clean pair, or buy one at the desk for $3. Shoes come off. That is the whole dress code.

Clothes you can move in

You will be standing, turning, ducking, and reaching for most of the session. Jeans are fine. Stiff or tight clothing gets in the way. Action games warm you up, so a layer you can take off is better than a heavy coat. Dress for moving, not for standing at a cabinet.

Can you wear glasses in VR?

Contacts are usually the most comfortable option. If you only have glasses, tell staff at check-in and they will fit the headset around them. Do not arrive planning to play without the prescription you need to see the room.

Hair and jewelry

The headset sits on and around your head. Hats, big clips, and a high ponytail can block the fit. Bring a hair tie if your hair is long. Take off dangling earrings and anything that will swing when you turn.

What to leave out of your pockets

Phones, keys, and loose items fall out when you duck. Leave them with the person who is not playing, or leave with the staff. You will want your hands empty.

The waiver, and who has to sign

Everyone signs a waiver before they play. Players 9 to 17 need a parent or guardian to sign. Players 9 to 12 need that adult on-site. If you are bringing a birthday group, collect that permission before the day, not in the lobby. The waiver is at seasidevr.com/waiver.

A note if you get motion sick

Most people are fine after a meal. If you get carsick easily, eat light and tell staff before you start. The longer explanation is here - Does VR Make You Sick? An Honest Guide.
